Elon Musk worries about the increasing geopolitical tensions that exist between China and the US. He thinks others should too.
Musk responded to CNBC's David Faber Tuesday when asked about the "growing hostility between the US and China."
Musk said that China's takeover of Taiwan was inevitable. Taiwan is a self-governed island, which Beijing claims to be its territory.
Musk stated that "the official policy of China" is for Taiwan to be integrated. Musk said: "There is no need to read between lines."
The tensions between the US, China, and Taiwan have increased in recent years. This is due to many factors: trade disputes and China's extensive updates to its antispy law to strategic competition on technology such as chips, for which Taiwan plays a crucial role.
US President Joe Biden said CBS 60 Minutes in September last year that US forces would defend Taiwan should China invade the island.
This situation could become serious and impact the global economy.
The Chinese economy and the rest are conjoined twins. It would be as if you were trying to separate conjoined siblings. Musk, CEO of Tesla, an electric vehicle manufacturer, told Faber that the situation was severe.
"It's worse for many other companies than for Tesla." I don't know where to buy an iPhone for example.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is Apple's main supplier. It is the largest contract chipmaker in the world.
Bloomberg reported April 13 that Apple is only making 7% of iPhones in India. This move was made to diversify the supply chain.
Tesla and Musk didn't immediately respond to Insiders request for a comment sent after regular business hours.
