Elon Musk relaunched Twitter Blue after it was pulled due to problems, adding new gold checks for verified businesses accounts

Twitter Blue has been relaunched with a new gold check mark for verified companies.

Twitter Blue is back and features a new check mark to indicate account verification.

Monday’s relaunch of the subscription service saw a new gold checkmark to identify verified accounts for businesses. Twitter Blue has both blue check marks to verify individual user accounts, and gray check marks to verify government and multilateral accounts.

Twitter Blue’s return is expected to be a few weeks away. After people tried to use it to impersonate politicians and companies, the service that allows users to purchase verification was taken off-line last month.

Musk stated at the time that he would wait to relaunch Twitter Blue until there was high confidence in stopping impersonation. He also said that different check mark colors would be used for distinguishing accounts belonging to organizations from individual users.

Twitter announced that in order to crack down on impersonation, Twitter Blue users will need to register a number before they can receive a blue check mark. Subscribers who change their handles or display names or profile photos will temporarily lose their symbol until their accounts have been reviewed again.

App users using iOS will also see a price increase for the new Twitter Blue. The $11 monthly cost for the Twitter app for iPhone users will be $11. Musk has often criticized Apple for taking 30% off most App Store purchases. He once tweeted that the fee was “literally 10x higher than it should be”.

For those who subscribe online, Twitter Blue will cost $8 per month. The subscription includes the ability to edit tweets and upload videos at 1080p resolution. You can also view tweets in reader mode.
