Elon Musk congratulated Elon's mother, who was recognized by the University of the Free State (South Africa) for her contributions to nutrition research.
Maye Musk, after receiving her honorary doctorate of dietetics, said: "This was unexpected." "My children are proud of me." "This is the best thing to ever happen to me."
The 74-year old dietician tweeted: "This ceremony made me cry. It was not my plan but it's the pinnacle of my achievements."

Elon Musk's younger brother, Kimbal said, "Congratulations Ma!" in response to the tweet sent by their mother following the ceremony on the campus in Bloemfontein.
Prof Francis Petersen (Vice-Chancellor of the University of the Free State) said that Maye was "making her mark" as a nutritionist and dietitian and that she was a deserving recipient of the award.
Maye Musk, according to her website is a registered nutritionist dietitian, has two master's degrees, one in nutrition sciences and the other in dietetics. She also runs a nutrition company.
She is a model and author who has been modeling since she was 15 years old. In 1996, she published "Feel Fantastic", which is no longer in print. In December 2019, "A Woman's Plan: Advice for A Lifetime of Beauty, Adventure and Success" appeared.
Maye was always close to Elon Musk and his supporters. She made headlines in 2013 after she claimed she slept in his garage when she visited him.
Maye Musk did not immediately respond to an Insider request for a comment.
