  • Multiple reports claim that a statue depicting Twitter's bird logo was sold at an auction for $100,000.
  • This statue was included in Twitter's sale of excess items that included hundreds.
  • The identity of the purchaser for the large-ticket item was not disclosed by the auction house.

A three-and-a-half-foot tall statue of Twitter's bird logo sold at auction for $100,000, according to multiple reports.

The online auction began on Tuesday morning and bidding reached $12,000 by Wednesday afternoon. All items were available for bidding starting at $25 to $50

Heritage Global Partners, the auction's organizer, has declined to reveal the identity of the buyer or provide information about bidding prices or buyers.

In Twitter's "fire sale" of surplus office supplies, hundreds of items will be sold. Heritage Global Partners is auctioning off the items.

The firm sells surplus and troubled assets and a spokesperson said previously that Twitter auction had nothing to do "with their financial situation" and that "if anyone truly believes that the revenue from selling a few computers and chairs will pay the mountain there, then that's a fool."

Since he bought Twitter for $44Billion last October, Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter has made significant changes to the company. He cut costs almost immediately by firing thousands of Twitter employees and ending company perks like free lunches.

According to SFGate, a larger version of the Twitter logo in neon sold at the auction for $40,000 According to SFGate, the two Twitter birds caused a bidding war at the last minute. The bids for the statue tripled in the hour that passed before bidding closed. Both birds had a combined value of more than $30,000.

Other items include phone charging bikes, industrial equipment such as pizza ovens, and iMac screens.

HGP declined comment to discuss the bid prices for the Twitter logo statue or other items.
